Pakistani film Laal Kabootar has been impressing global audiences winning one award after another since its release in March this year. The movie, starring Mansha Pasha and Ahmed Ali Akbar, has once again bagged Best Feature Film accolade at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival 2019.
Film maker Kamal Khan, who made his directorial debut with the movie, received the award at the closing night of the ceremony held at Surrey City Hall in Surrey, British Columbia.
Earlier this year, the film won Archana Soy Audience Award for the same category at the Tasveer South Asian Film Festival in Seattle. Moreover, it was also screened at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival 2019.
Ahmed Ali Akber, the lead actor, also brought home ‘Best Male Actor’ award for the movie from the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival 2019.
It’s indeed a moment of pride for all Pakistanis as Laal Kabootar has been highly appreciated by global audiences and has won over their hearts.
The film, which is also Pakistan’s official submission for Oscars, is a roller coaster ride featuring Ahmed Ali Akber as Adeel Nawaz a hustling cab driver who crosses paths with a strong-headed and stubborn girl Aliya Malik played by the alluring Mansha Pasha.
It also features actors like Rashid Farooqui, Saleem Meraj, Ali Kazmi, Shamim Hilali, Akbar Islam, Syed Arsalan, Saad Fareedi, Hammad Siddiq, Ishtiaq Omar, Meesum Naqvi, Faiza Gillani, Mohammed Ahmed, and Kaleem Ghour.
