Q: First of all, we want to say welcome to you.
Thank you for having me today. Thank you for the opportunity to showcase my music to the visitors of your blog.
Q: How did you get into the music industry?
I have been playing and composing music since I was a kid. In 1990, my parents bought me an electronic keyboard, and I immediately started playing music. Although I was just a kid, I had the innate ability to play by ear, to improvise and create original music. In 2002, I bought my first professional electronic music workstation and all the necessary equipment in order to build my own recording studio in Elassona, Greece. I started my solo career on 8 August 2008 with the release of my debut album.
Q: Who was your first inspiration in music?
I cannot narrow it down to one person. However, some of my first musical inspirations were James Horner, Yanni, John Williams, Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Alan Silvestri and Danny Elfman. When I first listened to the music of the aforementioned great composers, my life took a whole new direction. I strongly believe that the music you listen to when you are growing up is very important, and for me it changed who I was and everything I wanted to be.
Q: What is the title of your debut album?
The title of my debut album is First Contact. First Contact is my first instrumental electronic music album and it includes ten original music tracks, three of which have been awarded in international music competitions. All ten tracks can be streamed and downloaded at http://www.sakisgouzonis.com/first_contact/ as 320 kbps MP3 files.
Q: Tell us a bit about your musical journey so far.
I started out playing and composing music when I was a kid. Even though I didn’t have any knowledge of musical notation, I had the innate ability to play by ear and create original music. On 17 October 2007, I created my MySpace page, which soon became the most popular Greek music page in the history of MySpace. In a short period of time, I topped the MySpace Music Charts at #1 in Greece. On 12 June 2013, the closing day of the original MySpace, my MySpace page had more than 380,000 friends in 220 countries and territories. So far, I have released ten studio albums; First Contact (2008), New Earth (2009), The Tree Of Life (2010), Ultimate Love (2011), Vast Victory (2012), Spiritual Unity (2013), Golden Heart (2014), A World At Peace (2015), Liberating truth (2016) and Amazing Space (2017), all of which have received a lot of radio airplay and press coverage from media outlets all over the world.
Q: Who has helped you the most in your journey? Who has given you any piece of advice?
My family, my friends and my fans have helped me a lot in so many ways in my musical journey so far. One of the best pieces of advice given to me over the years is that the line to the place you want to get to is never straight. It strays among the different avenues. Imagine an eight-lane highway eventually going to the same tunnel. Eventually, you get to that place you want to get to, but getting there requires a lot of lane changes.
Q: What do you do nowadays?
My tenth studio album titled Amazing Space was released just a few weeks ago, so I am in the process of promoting it. Amazing Space is a quality album, and it consists of ten beautiful music compositions accompanied by captivating orchestrations. Listeners can stream and download Amazing Space by visiting http://www.sakisgouzonis.com/amazing_space/ anytime they want.
Q: Let us know something about your future projects.
Soon, I will be working on a new studio album, which I am really excited for. The exact release date will be revealed in the near future. For more details, you will have to visit my official website, http://www.sakisgouzonis.com.
Q: What is your message to your fans?
Love yourselves, and love the people around you. Love even those who have anger towards you and maybe you towards them. Thank you for the love you have shown me all these years. Thank you for taking the time to read this interview.
Q: Do you have a message for all new artists?
Always move on. Never give up. Love and respect your fans and the people that contributed in one way or another to your success.
