Q: First of all we want to say welcome to you.
Ans: Thank You!
Q: How did you come into music industry?
Ans: I started singing in church when I was a kid. My uncle was in a local band and had musicians in and out of the house every weekend. Of course, that fascinates a young, impressionable mind. I learned about classic rock music from him. I dropped out of school in the 10th grade later to follow a band that my then-boyfriend was in. We traveled all over The South, doing those Chitlin’ Circuit gigs. I had a lot of fun with it. I would not advise dropping out of school to pursue music. I went back and got the GED and degrees later in life.
Q: Who was your inspiration for music?
Ans: There are many. Too many to mention and from all walks of life. Paul Rodgers, James Brown, Aretha, Natalie Cole, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam. Like I said, many. But at least it gives you some idea.
Q: What is the name of your debut song?
Ans: The name of the song is called “Lies.” It’s the story of a person who encounters many tales as she goes on her daily routine. I’m sure there’s at least one person out there who can relate. (laughs)
Q: Say something about your musical journey?
Ans: It’s been a long, difficult journey. There have been many highs. And there have been a lot of lows. But I’m still here. And I’ll keep going. That’s all that matters.
Q: Who helped you most in your journey?
Ans: His nickname is simply , SWBI. And that’s what he wishes to be known by. I was stuck in a rut when we met. I had recently divorced (less than 6 months). I was working, but I was in a rut. I did not know what or where my life was going. I was numb. Numb in my soul. I felt that my only purpose was to make the dreams of others come true. But I was numb when it came to my own. Not a good place to be, if you expect to be happy. I met him, we clicked immediately. And I moved cross-country to Northern California a few months later. Just like that. We lived together for about a little over 5 years, and we broke up. I moved to Sacramento with the help of friends and I’ve been here since. To answer your question, I’ve had a lot of help over the years. And I’ve helped others. I call it even.
Q: Who gave you pieces of advice?
Ans: Every person I’ve come in contact with! And each person has taught me something about loyalty, friendship, business and music. All in one.
Q: What do you do now a days?
Ans: I work on my music in one way or another. Got to.
Q: Let us know something about your future projects
Ans: New music! Visit my Web site for happenings: www.reverbnation.com/deehemingway or www.deehemingwaymusic.info
Q: What is your message to your fans?
Ans: Thanks for supporting me all these years. There’s more to come!
Q: Any message for new artist?
Ans: Don’t give up. Keep going. Even if you have to stand alone, keep going.
