Today we have Shine and Harvest with us from BMC Musick and here we are sharing their exclusive interview with our loyal readers.
Q: First of all, we want to say welcome to you.
R: Thank you. We are honored and privileged to be here.
Q: How did you come into music industry?
R: Our journey into the music industry came from a combination of life-long musical passion, church performances, and a strong desire to see the rap genre increase in the Body of Christ.
Q: Who was your inspiration for music?
R: Our inspiration for music is also from an amalgamation. Early in our childhood, it came from music icons like The Isley Brothers, Al Green, Betty Wright, Geto Boys, Aaliyah, SWV, Faith Evans, UGK, etc…Later, after our Christian conversions, we began to be influenced by Fred Hammond, The Clark Sisters, Mary Mary, The Gospel Gangstas, Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, etc…
Q: What is the name of your debut song?
R: The name of our debut song is “Hell In Designer.” It comes from our awareness of the all-consuming vanity native to the American experience, and the mandate on our ministry from God to make our generation aware of the ramifications and consequences of this futile existence.
Q: Say something about your musical journey?
R: Our musical journey has been an extension of our daily lives. It has morphed from simply a passion for music and wanting our voices heard, to hearing the call of the Lord to use music for what we believe it was originally designed for: to bring glory to the Godhead and minister truth to mankind. We believe this call to be a holy thing, consequently, we treat our ministry of music as such.
Q: Who helped you most in your journey?
R: Although we owe honor and gratitude to those in the music industry who showed us that we could be believers and musical artists through their musical commitments to the Kingdom, we must give thanks to the Holy Spirit who has used the Word of God to teach us righteousness in our daily lives which translates through our music. When you hear the melodies, raps, and messages of the songs of BMC Musick, you hear our discipleship poured into choruses, bars, and stanzas. Holy Spirit has helped us hone our musical talents and keeps us with fresh songs that communicate the will of God. He is definitely our biggest help!
Q: Who gave you pieces of advice?
R: Musically, we get business advice from proven sources in the industry which have a track record of integrity. Spiritually, we listen to Elders of the faith like Bishop T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, John Hagee, our late pastors O.G. Mayes, C.L. Mayes, Dr. Chuck Missler, Dr. Thomas Horn, Dr. Perry Stone, etc…
Q: What do you do now a days?
R: Harvest is an Office Manager for USPTO and works on her MBA, Shine is a Prophet and works on his M.Div.
Q: Let us know something about your future projects.
R: The next installation in the “Light” series, after the Nite Lite album, will be an album titled “Street Light.” We will be releasing 4 singles from the Nite Lite Album. After Hell In Designer will be a song which captures the essence of the hood or ghetto dream titled “Make The Trap Jump.”
Q: What is your message to your fans?
R: Our message to our fans is the Cross of Calvary stands as a witness of the sacrifice made on our behalf, and that our response to this sacrifice holds eternal ramifications. We believe the proper response to this sacrifice is vital, and that every human being is individually responsible to it. That is the core of the name Bear My Cross (BMC) Musick.
Q: Any message for new artist?
R: To every new artist we would caution you to really consider the message you are communicating through your musick. What are you feeding your listeners and are you willing to be held accountable for your words?
